The mechanical properties of the erythrocyte membrane are very important clinical indicators. Deformability is the ability of erythrocytes to pass through thin capillaries without damage. Its disorder can lead to the pathogenesis of several diseases, including ASD. More
Examination of erythrocyte deformability in relation to the clinical manifestations of autism in children.
In this study, we evaluated erythrocyte deformability in relation to the severity of nuclear symptoms (assessed by the C domain in the ADI-R diagnostic scale). Restrictive, repetitive, and stereotypical behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder was associated with reduced erythrocyte deformability.
